A New Podcast: Encounters

We have inaugurated a podcast series called Encounters. Approached about doing podcasts for a long time, we finally took the leap! This first episode features Hank and me, sifting through the riches of Western Classical repertoire in an effort to come up with our lists of top-tens!

You really can’t create a list that small, but we did have fun trying. Our lists include some standards and some pieces that are off the beaten path. Your list would probably be quite different. Still, perhaps the discussion in this podcast may help you make some new discoveries. Or maybe it will help you think about the reasons you agree or disagree with our selections. And, particularly if you’re new to Classical Music, we hope our musings will give you some new insights.

A host of colorful topics will follow, and, as you might guess, we have a lovely array of guests planned who are sure to delight. Let us know what you think!

  1. I so enjoyed your inaugural podcast! I learned a lot, and jotted down several pieces I need to hear and appreciate. It was also nice to see Mr. Professor on camera. Your witty banter was fun to hear — you are the cutest couple since Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. ;-) Thanks so much!

  2. This was really enjoyable, and I’m eager for the next ones! Some of the pieces were familiar, and some were unexpected and intriguing – have to go check them out now. On such a list I’d honestly have to include Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture (pure gorgeousness all the way through), Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, and Rossini’s overture to The Barber of Seville. “Casta Diva” would so be on there as well!!!

Thank you for doing this! I’m excited for what you will come up with next time!
